Elmwood is a community hub where children, youth and families can find support, connection and opportunity — all under one roof.
Located at 140 Elmwood Avenue in North Bay, Elmwood brings together free and low-cost programs, services and community spaces designed to make support easier to access. Every week, children, youth, families and community members come through our doors for recreation, mental health and wellness supports, education, life-skills programming, camps, mentoring, family programs and opportunities to connect.
Elmwood is also a place where practical needs can be met. Our building includes a Youth Hub, gymnasium, health unit approved community kitchen, art and technology studio, fenced-in outdoor play space with playground, food pantry, clothing boutique and laundry facilities. Children and youth can also access education, health care and other supports on site, helping families connect with services in a familiar and welcoming community setting.
More than 30 community organizations use Elmwood to deliver programs, services, events and opportunities for local families. By sharing space, resources and expertise, we are able to offer much more than any one organization could provide alone — while keeping many programs free and easy to access.
Elmwood is built on community support. Grants, donations, sponsorships, fundraising and facility rentals help keep our doors open, our programs accessible and new opportunities available to children and families. When you support Elmwood, you are helping create a place where people can get what they need, discover new opportunities and feel connected to their community.

Located at 140 Elmwood Ave in North Bay ON Elmwood houses an extensive number of resources and programming in collaboration with various community organizations.
There’s something happening for youth at Elmwood every night of the week.
Our weekly programming includes after-school programs for children ages 6–12 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; a Mental Health Drop-In for youth 14+ on Tuesdays; and Thursday evening programming for youth ages 7–17 featuring art, culture, recreation, Ready, Set, Go! skill development, cooking, community presenters and more. Programs change throughout the year, with additional activities offered during PD Days and summer break.
The Beauchamp Youth Hub is a space where young people can hang out, connect and have fun, with foosball, air hockey and a basketball arcade game. Next door, the Imagination Studio gives youth space to get creative, with art supplies, a keyboard, piano, guitars and other materials available to explore.

Elmwood offers a variety of spaces for community organizations to rent, including our gymnasium, community kitchen, meeting rooms and outdoor space.
At this time, rentals are available to organizations rather than private parties. To book a space, organizations are required to complete a Facility Rental Agreement and provide proof of at least $2 million in liability insurance.
Most rental rates are kept modest and go directly toward the ongoing operations of Elmwood, helping us maintain the building and continue offering programs, services and supports to children, youth and families in our community.

We are honoured to be supported by the Elmwood Youth Collaborative, a network of community partners committed to working together to strengthen supports, opportunities and pathways for children, youth and families.
Our collaborative partners include the City of North Bay, North Bay Regional Health Centre, Hands thefamilyhelpnetwork, CMHA North Bay and District, North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Bay and District, Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, Community Support Team – Youth Justice, and the Children’s Aid Society of the District of Nipissing and Parry Sound.
Beyond the Collaborative, Elmwood is home to a growing network of community organizations and partners. Our community kitchen, meeting spaces, classrooms and gym are used by more than 30 organizations to deliver programs, services, recreation, education and community initiatives.
Together with our partners, we are proud to offer an array of free, low-barrier programs and supports for children, youth and families throughout our community; creating opportunities for connection, learning, recreation, wellness and belonging.
Elmwood’s Clothing Boutique and Youth Pantry provide free access to everyday essentials for children, youth and families.
The Clothing Boutique is open Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for individuals and families receiving services through Elmwood partner organizations. The boutique offers donated children’s and adult clothing, shoes and accessories in a welcoming, respectful setting.
The Youth Pantry provides youth with access to non-perishable food, hygiene items and other basic necessities, helping remove barriers when extra support is needed.
Community donations help keep both resources stocked. We gratefully accept non-perishable food, hygiene items, children’s and adult clothing, and shoes.

Elmwood brings important health, education and youth supports together in one community setting, making it easier for young people and families to connect with the services they need.
A Nurse Practitioner clinic operates on site through VON, with connections to the North Bay Regional Health Centre, providing accessible primary care and supporting referrals to additional health and mental health services.
Elmwood is also home to two Education and Community Partnership Program classrooms operated with the Near North District School Board, serving students in Grades 7–8 and Grades 9–12 who benefit from a smaller, supportive learning environment.
Additional on-site supports include the Community Support Team through Youth Justice, Early Intervention Services funded through the Ministry of Health, and initiatives supported through the Ontario Education Championship Team that help young people strengthen educational pathways, build life and employment skills, explore post-secondary opportunities and prepare for their next steps.
By bringing these services into one familiar community space, Elmwood helps reduce barriers and creates more opportunities for youth and families to access support when they need it.

Elmwood creates opportunities that may not otherwise be available to children and youth — from recreation, mentorship and skill building to education, employment readiness, wellness supports and community experiences. At Elmwood, young people have a place to come as they are. Free and low-barrier programs create opportunities to build relationships, develop confidence, try something new and feel connected to their community.
Elmwood brings supports closer to children, youth and families before needs escalate. By combining recreation, education, basic needs, health and wellness, family supports and early intervention in one community setting, we help strengthen families and promote long-term well-being.
